The Grandparents' window
Invite a grandparent to look at chosen parts of family life. They can only look, and you can stop it at any time.
During the beta
The Grandparents’ window is part of Household Plus and is not open in the beta yet. The beta takes no photos or uploads. This page says how it will work when it opens.
Invite a relative
- Open Family & settings → Children & access.
- Under The Grandparents’ window, tap Invite a relative.
- Leave the email blank to copy the link and send it yourself, or enter their address and tap Send the invitation.
- The link works once and expires. Keep it private until you send it.
The relative opens the link, makes their own account, confirms they are 18 or older and agrees to the Terms of Use. They can only look. They cannot change anything in your household.
Choose what they can see
- Beside the relative, tap Choose what they see.
- Turn on Birthdays, Drawings and photos, Events, or Chores finished.
- For pictures and events, check only the ones you want them to see.
- Tap Save. A change reaches their window straight away.
Birthdays show a child’s first name, the day of their next birthday and the age they are turning, never the date they were born. Chores finished show how many each child finished today and this week, never what the chores are. An event shows its title and time and the children on it, never its place or notes.
What a relative never sees
A relative never sees money, documents, notes, messages, locations, contacts or shopping, and never anything private. A private or selected event cannot be chosen, even if someone tries to add it another way. Their account has no household, so the rest of the app is closed to it.
Change your mind or stop sharing
Open the relative in the same place and change the switches or pictures at any time. To stop altogether, open the ··· menu at the top of their sheet and choose Remove this relative. Their window ends at once, and if their account existed only for this window it is deleted too. A relative can also delete their own account, or download a copy of their account and what they follow, from Your account on their window.
If a grown-up also follows another household
A relative who has their own household keeps it just as it is. Their window appears in their own app under Family you follow, and it shows only what the other household chose to share.
