Delete your Ourstead account
How to delete your account and your household's information, what is removed, and what is kept for a while.
In the app
- Open Ourstead and sign in.
- Open Family & settings (on a phone, tap More first).
- Tap your name at the top of the list.
- At the bottom, under Leave Ourstead, tap Delete my account. Ourstead shows exactly what will be removed before you confirm.
A child's information is managed by the grown-ups in the household: they can change or delete it from People.
Without the app
If you cannot sign in, email support@ourstead.casa from the address on your account, with the subject Delete my account. We may ask you to confirm the request from that address, then delete the account within 30 days and tell you when it is done.
What is deleted
- A household member's account is removed straight away, with that person's private records. Chores and other open items are handed back to the household.
- A household owner, or the last adult, gets a 14-day recovery window. During it you can sign in and change your mind; afterward the household and all its information are deleted.
- Items you added that other members still use, such as a shared shopping list, can remain for them.
- Any link to a Google, Facebook or Apple sign-in is removed, and connected calendars are disconnected.
What is kept for a while
| Record | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Copies in our encrypted backups | Until those backups expire, within 30 days |
| A record that a household was deleted | 1 year |
| Security records | 2 years |
