Terms of Use
Last updated 14 October 2026. By creating an account, accepting an invitation or using Ourstead, you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy.
- This is a beta. Ourstead is free during the beta. Sign-up is open to a limited number of households, and to anyone with an invitation. Features may change, pause or be removed, and the service may be interrupted. We back up regularly, but keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.
- Your account. You must be 18 or older to create an account. Keep your password private and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
- Your household. The household owner decides who joins and what each person can see and do. If you add a child, you confirm you are their parent or guardian, or have their parent's permission, and you are responsible for their use of Ourstead.
- Your information stays yours. You own what you put into Ourstead. You let us store and process it only to run Ourstead for your household, as the Privacy Policy describes.
- Fair use. Do not use Ourstead to break the law or harm anyone. Do not try to reach another household's information, test or bypass our security, overload the service, send invitations to people who have not asked for them, or copy the app to build a competing one.
- Pricing. The beta is free. A paid Household Plus plan is planned at $10 a month or $100 a year per household. We will never charge you unless you choose a paid plan and agree at checkout; no free trial turns into a paid plan on its own.
- Other websites. Recipe and image links take you to other websites that we do not control.
- Not professional advice. Maintenance reminders, recipe scaling and similar features are conveniences. Check safety-critical work with a professional, and check recipes for allergies and food safety yourself. Recipes that Ourstead or an AI service reads from a web page can contain mistakes, so check them before you save or cook from them.
- Ending. You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms. If we end the beta or the service, we will give you at least 30 days' notice when we can, and a way to get a copy of your information.
- No warranty. Ourstead is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, as far as the law allows.
- Limit of liability. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data or profits. Our total liability to you is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the past 12 months, which is nothing during the free beta, or $50.
- Kentucky law. These terms are governed by the laws of Kentucky, USA. Disputes will be handled in the courts of Madison County, Kentucky.
- Changes. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before the change takes effect. If you keep using Ourstead afterward, you accept the new terms.
