Birthdays, gift ideas and contacts

Keep birthdays with a reminder before the day, gift ideas only grown-ups see, and the people you call.

Add a birthday

1. Open People and choose the Birthdays tab.
2. Tap New birthday.
3. Enter Whose birthday, the month and day, and the year if you know it.
4. Choose who can see it, and when to be reminded. Two weeks before is chosen to start.
5. If you like, add Gift ideas, then tap Add birthday.

Birthdays show on the calendar, on Today and on the wall, with the age they are turning when you added the year. A birthday marked “Only me” stays off the wall and out of everyone else’s calendar.

Gift ideas

Only grown-ups see gift ideas, never the children. Open a birthday to add or change them at any time.

Contacts

On the Contacts tab, tap New contact for the doctor, the school or a neighbor. Tick Carpool friend for someone who can drive the children, so they are offered as a driver. Tap Import to choose contacts from your phone or from a contacts file; the file is read on your device.

How people appear

Everyone in the household has a colour, and can have a small character instead of initials. Tap Make a character in someone’s details, choose hair, eyes and the rest, or tap Surprise me.
